The Gardens Celebrates National Nurses Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Gardens at DePugh recognized 42 staff members during its Employee Appreciation Day, Thursday, April 24.

Staff members from across The Gardens’ seven departments — dietary, nursing, activities, maintenance, administrative, rehab, and housekeeping/laundry — received a certificate or pin, depending on length of service, at a luncheon ceremony.

The day also served as a milestone for activities assistant Mary Harrington, who retired after 37 years of service. Harrington, who formerly worked in the housekeeping department, received a commemorative plaque.

“Mary did anything you asked her to do,” Administrator Tonya Oliver said. “She was always present. She followed through and definitely had that high level of commitment.”

Oliver, who joined The Gardens in March, said that congratulatory events like Employee Appreciation Day benefit not only the staff but residents as well. She plans to make the ceremony even bigger next year.

“Our employees work so hard every day to deliver quality, compassionate care,” Oliver said. “I’m glad we could reward them for a job well done.”
